Lakota Law Project - This project helps support Indigenous voices, holds ongoing campaigns to protect Native land, and more. They have stood behind the Standing Rock protests, noDAPL protests, and actively work to protect Native children and secure their voting rights. Native American Journalists Association - The NAJA group works to empower Native American voices in journalism and amplify their culture in literature. NAJA is committed to defending free speech and include Native voices in mainstream journalism. The project has several scholarships for Native journalists to apply for and further their education. They also have an Indigenous Voice fund that you can donate to directly through their site.
Native American Rights Fund - Standing as the oldest and largest nonprofit legal organization, this group is dedicated to defending the rights of Indian tribes and individuals. Their mission is to preserve tribal existence, protect tribal resources, develop Indian law, and hold governmental organizations accountable for their actions against Indigenous people. You can make a one time monetary donation through their site or set up a monthly donation.
Warrior Women Project - The project aims to empower the leadership of Native women through research and outreach programming. It provides a platform for Native women to use their voices and keep their culture alive and prevent cultural information from being lost due to intergenerational trauma and the impact of colonization. The site includes video interviews with the Warrior Women, has a blog forum, a film, and a donation page for monetary help.
American Indian College Fund - This project aims to increase the number of American Indians with college degrees. They raise money for scholarships to help Natives start and stay in school. The group also assists Native students in the application process and support tribally controlled colleges to ensure student success. Since 1989, over 140,000 scholarships have been awarded to Natives and over $27 million has been donated to student scholarships in the last two years alone.
